5 Homemade Aromatherapy Bed Sprays for Fall

1. Pumpkin Spice

The season’s reigning latte blend makes for the perfect aromatherapy scent – and the warm notes of pumpkin spice can be evoked without pumpkin fragrance oil. In an 8-ounce spray bottle, sprinkle in a pinch of Epsom salt, and add the following essential oils: 15 drops of cinnamon, 8 drops of clove, 8 drops of ginger, 8 drops of orange and 8 drops of cardamom. Top off the bottle with distilled water, and voilà! Get ready for energizing benefits, including an immune-system boost.

2. Chamomile

Alleviate your stress with a cozy chamomile spray to lightly douse your pillowcase before bedtime. Made with 15 drops of chamomile, 5 drops of sage and 5 drops of bergamot essential oils, this linen spray recipe also calls for one ounce of high-proof vodka mixed with distilled water. The addition of alcohol helps the aroma last a little longer! (And we wouldn’t hold it against you if you decide to take an itty-bitty swig of Smirnoff to decompress.)

3. Snickerdoodles

Yes, you read that right – aromatherapy can take inspiration from sweet dessert scents, too! Used to restore emotional balance, this linen spray blend needs a pinch of Epsom salt and some distilled water, as well as 20 drops of orange, 15 drops of cinnamon and 5 drops of clove essential oils. Be careful, though: using this linen spray in the vicinity of your bedroom may compel you to eat baked goods in bed, and we all know how those crumbs can be a nightmare to clean up.

4. Apple Cider

To replicate the crisp smell of delicious apple cider in your bedroom, take heed of this linen spray recipe. In a closed container, steep some cinnamon sticks in apple cider vinegar for 10 days. Then, strain out the sticks, and pour one ounce of the cinnamon-infused vinegar in your 8-ounce spray bottle. Pipe in a few droplets of spiced essential oils: 12 drops of clove, 12 drops of cinnamon, 12 drops of ginger and 6 drops of nutmeg. Fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water, and spray your anxieties away!

5. Fall Foliage

If you favor a more woodsy scent, spruce up your life with an evergreen fragrance consisting of 25 drops of cypress, 12 drops of white fir and 12 drops of sandalwood essential oils. Throw in a pinch of Epsom salt, and add a splash of distilled water, and you’ve got a concoction that is sure to help you feel energized for the next day.
